It's really up to you which route you want to go, but there are some things you should know:
When a user signs up on Ember, they have access to two versions of the app (L1 and L2). Aside from your mining balance, wallet and portfolio balances on each version don't overlap. You can think of each custody setting as two separate accounts.
Long story short:
If you are a crypto native and care about having all funds on-chain, we’d recommend investing in the L1 setting. On each transaction, there are Ethereum mining fees (these don’t go to Ember, but are charged by the Ethereum network) and portfolio minimums set to protect ROI on each deposit. Please note that these fees can be very high.
If you are new to crypto, like small minimum investments, and don't like fees, we’d recommend the L2 setting of the app. We recommend L2 for most users.
